Bio/Statement
Mr. Meyer is a sculptor and aspiring architect currently pursuing a Master of Architecture degree at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, with a concentration in sculpture. His work operates at the intersection of sculpture and architecture, establishing a rigorous dialogue between object, space, and human experience.
Through his artistic practice, Meyer confronts themes of identity and history with particular attention to the Black American experience. His work engages vulnerability as a method for connection, both within and beyond his community, grounded in the conviction that visual art, like architecture, possesses the power to educate, provoke reflection, and generate lasting emotional resonance.
Meyer approaches architecture as both a spatial discipline and a cultural act. Informed by his background as a conceptually driven sculptor, he treats buildings as inhabitable forms in which light, material, proportion, and movement shape meaningful human experience. His process is research-based, drawing from history, art, and place to embed projects with layered narratives while maintaining formal clarity. His design work spans multiple scales and typologies from commercial and academic environments to homes, barbershops, and churches. He consistently prioritizes dignity, community, and everyday life.
Across disciplines, Meyer brings a sculptural sensibility marked by narrative structure, rhythm, and formal precision. He views architecture, like art, as a vehicle for expanding possibility, and he is committed to creating spaces that resonate broadly while offering depth for those who choose to engage more closely.
